Your spiritual health determines your purpose in life. It answers the question, "Why am I here?" Our spirit is who we are. Our mind and our body provide a place for our spirit to live. Your mind and your body can be healthy, however if your spirit is unhealthy, you will still be miserable. Do you have a purpose? Do you look forward to getting up each day? Many people confuse spirituality with spiritual health ... spirituality is one way in which we feed our spirit.
Whether you believe in God, Buddism, or a Supreme Power in the Universe, these are all forms of spirituality. The second step of alcoholics anonymous says, "We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." Everyone needs hope, to believe that our lives can be better. When hope is lost we are left in a very dark place. You don't have to stay in that dark place. Life is meant to be enjoyed ... are you missing that enjoyment?
Spiritual Health takes many forms, religious beliefs, marital bliss, or a purpose to help others. Spiritual health means we look forward to tomorrow. It means that we are at peace with ourself and our world as it affects us.
